How do you make it?

  1. Start by adding your favourite clear spirit, such as vodka or gin. Ensure the spirit contains at least 30% alcohol. Avoid adding rum, as it will have little effect. Write down the bottling date and the type of spirit you’re using on the label. If possible, make use of any leftover spirits you already have at home.
  3. Once filled, store your bottle in a cool, dark place. The wood chips will gradually release their warm colour and rich rum flavour. Taste it from time to time to experience how the flavours develop. The process usually takes around eight weeks, but you can also experiment by letting it mature for longer.
  5. After eight weeks, it’s time to enjoy your own rum. Filter or carefully pour the spirit before serving, ensuring no wood chips make their way into your glass. And remember – never eat the wood chips.
