Het verhaal achter onze magnesium | Impactpartner Zechstein Minerals

Magnesium is a mineral that has been popular in self-care routines for years. But where does it actually come from? And how consciously do we choose its origin?

For the Pineut Foot Bath, we collaborate with our impact partner Zechstein Minerals. They extract their magnesium from a unique source in the Netherlands, near Veendam. A story that literally goes back 250 million years!

Around 250 million years ago, the area that is now Northwestern Europe was an inland sea: the Zechstein Sea. Due to evaporation, thick layers of salt and mineral deposits formed deep underground. In Groningen, there is a unique layer containing natural magnesium chloride.

This magnesium is extracted in the Netherlands. That means no transport from distant salt lakes, but a locally sourced mineral with a transparent origin!

Why this is our impact partner

For us, impact goes beyond the final product—it’s about the entire chain. Zechstein Minerals is a Dutch family business that is currently being passed from the first to the second generation. They operate from Veendam, close to the source itself. Transparency, quality, and long-term thinking are central to the way they work.

Additionally, like us, they have been a certified B Corp since February 2026. This means they don’t just focus on profit, but also on their impact on people, the environment, and society. These shared values make this collaboration both logical and especially powerful!

Why is there magnesium in our foot bath?

Magnesium helps relax muscles and blood vessels. It also helps reduce stress and has anti-inflammatory properties. The mix also contains yarrow and lime for a pleasant cooling effect and a refreshing sensation. After a foot bath, your feet will feel completely renewed.
